![]() ![]() Everyone in his party is killed but he is (miraculously) dragged to Keeley McDonald’s house, half dead of his wounds. Alaric is on his way to visit his fiance when out of the blue he is attacked by murderous warriors. By the end, Alaric was really fitting that middle child role. Here you have middle brother Alaric McCabe, who agreed to marry the heiress of clan McDonald in book 1. If you’ve never read a romance in which the conflict between the protagonists is that one (or both!) of them have to marry someone else because of REASONS, you have been missing aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the angst. Overall: Don’t like the trope, liked the book Heat Factor: light-the-bed-on-fire sex all over the placeĬharacter Chemistry: It was probably a combination of the sex and the angst, but it totally worked ![]()
